Boohoo makes investment in Revolution Beauty

Boohoo has made a “strategic investment” in Revolution Beauty as part of a beauty push, the investment takes its shareholding of the retailer to 7.1%.

UK inflation hits double digits, highest since 1982

British consumer price inflation jumped to 10.1% in July, its highest since February 1982, up from an annual rate of 9.4% in June, intensifying the squeeze on households.

UK extends tariff cuts for products exported from developing countries

The government is planning to extend tariff cuts to hundreds of products exported from developing countries, including clothing and food with potential tariff savings of £750m per year.

Pandora’s Q2 saw sales hit $771.8m 3% up on 2021 its “third straight quarter of record revenue” despite a slowdown in the US, China lockdowns and global uncertainty.

ThredUp says budget shoppers holding back

Resale service provider ThredUp reported Q2 revenues of $76.4m up 27% and orders up 40%, but noted budget shoppers were holding back on spending as the economy continues to take a hit.

Swiss brand On ups FY guidance following strong Q2

Swiss running shoe brand On has upped its outlook after reporting a 66.6% in Q2 sales to CHF291.7m up from CHF175m with US sales up 102.5%, Europe up 17.5% and Asia-Pacific up 52.2%.

Furla’s H1 sales increase by 12%

How to make your products attractive to the media in August    

Summer is in full-swing and hopefully the weather will improve – ie stop raining in the north and stop being so damn hot in the south – so add anything summery including summer clothing, swimwear, and push anything to do with the outside; garden furniture, anything for a garden party, or a picnic or barbecue, and don’t forget to add all of the other spellings BBQ, Bar-B-Que etc and other related keywords like picnics, garden party, garden parties etc. 

As we’re now all able to travel again there’s still plenty of scope to add summer beach and holiday wear and accessories for the beach and picnics. However, we’re not all lucky enough to go abroad so we suggest you still add keywords and phrases like “staycation” “holistay” “holiday at home” to your keywords and why not suggest clothing like raincoats, coats, hoodies, and cardigans and if you have them then firepits and chimineas for the colder UK evenings would be good.

It's also not too early to be thinking about back-to-school items - Scottish schools start again end of August – and university students will be getting ready to sort out their wardrobes and rooms so add fresher as a keyword.  

It’s also still time to add a few early Halloween ideas and Christmas gifts if you have them.

Music festivals are back again, so add any festival wear you have, particularly around the August bank holiday weekend with Reading/Leeds festivals 26-29th August. 

The 17th marks 100 days until the Black Friday/Cyber Monday (25-28th Nov) weekend so start preparing for those sales now.
